Voltage recently acquired the unique character that is Zach Karl as our latest and greatest Search Marketing Analyst. He has quickly become a staple part of our team and contributes in multiple areas of expertise. He is also fairly entertaining around the office, so we plan on keeping him around. Voltage is growing, and we are thankful to have him on as a new member of our team!

Zach is originally from St. Louis and made the lengthy trek out to Kansas City just a few short months ago. He owns two kittens with his girlfriend and enjoys basking in the glow of their selective love while writing intricately woven short stories about coyotes and watermelons. We asked Zach 10 questions to get to know him better, and here are the results. Meet Zach Karl!

Q: What are you most excited about or looking forward to with this new position at Voltage?

A: I am most excited about the opportunity I have to tap into the collective wisdom of the folks here. Everyone at Voltage is at the top of their game and I’m eager to hone my skills and learn new things.

Q: We know you have a couple of cats at home. What are the best and worst parts of being a cat dad?

A: I have two kittens, Hades and Hank. The best parts are the cuddling, walking them in their stroller, and knowing for sure that they love me. I also love always having company in the bathroom. And not being able to have houseplants anymore. And the scratches on my expensive living room set.

Q: Everyone’s guilty pleasure is trashy TV. What are your favorite TV shows to watch/make fun of?

A: I used to read when my girlfriend watched six hours of The Bachelor every week, but now I just bought a TV antenna so we can watch it live. It’s dumb and I hate it and I hate myself for watching it. The Circle on Netflix is my favorite show of all time, but I don’t feel guilty about that.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents?

A: All of my talents are hidden.

Q: What is your go-to karaoke song and why?

A: My go-to karaoke song is “Pressuring All My Friends To Sing While I Pretend To Be Up Next But Never Actually Putting My Name on the List” by Me. Or “American Pie” by Don McLean.

Q: Since you’re originally from St. Louis, what is your favorite part of living in KC?

A: I think that Kansas City is more accessible. The streetcar makes brewery hopping and exploring much more doable. Oh, and experiencing the Chiefs winning a Super Bowl was pretty neat, I guess.

Q: What are your desert island movie picks?

A: I would bring The Island, Shutter Island, Kong: Skull Island, The Island of Dr. Moreau, Cast Away, Journey 2 The Mysterious Island, Lord of the Flies, Lost, and Spider-man: Into the Spiderverse.

Q: Favorite restaurant?

A: My favorite restaurants are Streetside Taco, Seoul Taco, Poor Richards, and Seamus McDaniels.

Q: What digital marketing channel do you want to learn about the most and why?

A: As an SEO, I lean just a teeny bit toward organic. The industry is continuously changing and evolving (whether we’re aware of it or not), and it’s fun learning the new rules and algorithm changes.

Q: What is your best strength as far as digital marketing is concerned?

A: I think my best strength is my background as a copywriter. Being able to clearly communicate is vital – whether it’s writing up reports, optimizing websites, or emailing clients.

As you can see, Zach is certainly a great addition to our ever-changing culture here at Voltage. We can’t wait for everyone to meet him and see how he grows into this new role!

Sharing is caring.
