Voltage recently hired a new summer intern and we are excited to have her contribute to our ever-growing team. We are hoping Monica Wise will bring that wisdom and help the digital marketing team on projects within all the different digital channels.

Monica was born in Kansas City, Missouri, but spent her middle school and high school years in St. Louis, before attending and graduating from Missouri State University in Springfield, MO — Monica can truly call Missouri home. In her free time, Monica loves to unplug and go on hikes immersing herself in all that nature has to offer, as well as capturing amazing moments with some photography. We asked her 10 questions to get to know more about her. Meet Monica Wise!

Monica Wise Digital Marketing Intern

Q: What are you most excited about or looking forward to with this digital marketing internship?

A: “Diversifying my skill sets at a new agency and learning from everyone on the team! I am also excited to try new places and explore Kansas City a bit more!”

Q: What digital marketing channel do you want to learn about the most and why?

A: “Social. I have some experience in working with channels but have never dove into the metrics, optimization, etc.”

Q: What is your best strength as far as digital marketing is concerned?

A: “My PR degree. I think it pairs well with the digital marketing side because in the end everything you are doing is to serve the target audience. Digital marketing is an ever-changing environment that requires you to be adaptable and think creatively with others!”

Q: Take your pick: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, or something else?

A: “Instagram! Whether it is for business or personal, a photo tells a story. Ever since I can remember, I have loved the way that stories can be told and memories can be captured from the pictures I have taken. I received my first camera when I was 10 and have been interested in photography ever since!”

Q: What is on your bucket list when it comes to hiking? What is your favorite hike you have done so far?

A: “I really want to travel abroad and do the Camino de Santiago! One of my best friends did it last year with a study abroad trip, and she was able to see so many places and stay in hostels along the way. My favorite places I have hiked so far have been in Zion National Park in Utah. I did a cross-country road trip one spring break with a big group of friends. We camped in the park for a week and conquered Angels Landing, The Narrows, Observation point, and a few other trails. Wasn’t taken down by my asthma or excessive clumsiness, so it was a successful trip with a great group of friends!”

Q: We love sports here in Missouri. Where do your allegiances lie?

A: “After growing up in St. Louis for a big chunk of my life, I love to watch the Cardinals and have come to love watching the Blues! However, the Chiefs fandom runs deep in my family and has been a team I have always grown up watching. I was able to go to my first game at Arrowhead last season!”

Q: What is your favorite TV shows or movies and why?

A: “The Office and FRIENDS never gets old! 80’s movies like The Breakfast Club are great too!”

Q: You just graduated from Missouri State University. What did you like most about MSU?

A: “My favorite part was that it was a big school with a small school environment. It was easy to get involved in campus and take on awesome opportunities that have made me who I am today. I also really liked how my campus stressed getting involved in the community, while in school and post-grad.”

Q: If you could be any animal, which one would you be and why?

A: “Giraffes are my favorite zoo animals! They are kind of awkward and clumsy like me sometimes.”

Q: We are a Kansas City agency, so what is your favorite BBQ place?

A: “Not a typical “KC BBQ” hot spot, but I love Chicken and Pickle! It’s near North KC, and they have a great pulled pork sandwich. The environment is really fun too!”

We suppose we’ll count Chicken and Pickle as a Kansas BBQ spot and overlook Monica’s baseball fandom of those other guys on the other side of the state. All sports allegiances aside, we are so lucky to have Monica this summer and can’t wait to make some digital marketing magic with her as part of our team!

Sharing is caring.
